Pretty intense practice today at Montlake. A day after bad wind and driving rain made things difficult, the weather is a little better. But the defense looked strong again. Perhaps its a sign of improvement. I did notice that Washington's No. 1 defense was working very hard on defending screen passes. The scout offense ran several screen passes. There were times the defense looked good, but a couple of times where Willis Wilson, who was playing the role of Rodney Stewart, also broke free for some big gains.
A few other notes, Kasen Williams practiced and looked okay. Sark said he looks a little stiff. But he's out there, and by Saturday I would assume he will be better. The outside linebackers continued to rotate in at different times. We will see Jamaal Kearse, Garrett Gilliland, Princeton Fuiamaono and John Timu all get reps on Saturday.
Here's some video of Chris Polk talking after practice. No, I don't know why he left his helmet on. But when you are the school's second leading rusher and run like a rampaging beast, you can do that and the press - me - will think you are colorful? (Hat tip to Bull Durham).
