After being in New York for basketball all weekend, I will try and get up some football recruiting stuff I missed out on.
Most notably, Washington got a commit from Auburn's Cory English over the weekend. The 6-4, 280-pound English will play offensive line. Scout.com rates him as a two-star prospect, while ESPN rates English as a three-star prospect. English was named the SPSL North 4A linemen of the year this season.
Lakes standout offensive tackle Zach Banner was one of several players who made their official visits to Montlake this weekend. Scout.com has a trip report from Banner.
From the story ...
"I have to give it a 12," Banner said. "I saw what it was like to be a U-Dub Husky. I think that's the one thing I had never seen before, never got the full feeling. For 48 hours, you're part of the team; you can relate to everybody and talk with everybody and joke around. It was a good experience."
Besides Banner, other notable players on the visit were English, Mercer Island quarterback Jeff Lindquist (committed), Juanita linemen Nathan Dean (committed), Mariner running back KeiVarae Russell, Utah linebacker Jared Afalava, California wide receiver Dwayne Washington
