Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian was on KJR this morning and ran threw several topics. Here are some highlights:
> Sarkisian said he expects everyone who was injured and out for the spring -- Colin Tanigawa, Deontae Cooper, Hau'oli Jamora, Lawrence Lagafuaina and more -- will be ready when fall camp opens Aug. 5. He said Pio Vatuevei may be a little bit behind those guys. He also said LB Travis Feeney (shoulder surgery) will be closely monitored after missing the spring. "He's going to be ready to go, but we want him to be feeling great when the season rolls around."
> Sarkisian said Washington the new gold chrome helmets "are a reality for us," though he said he's not sure when or where they will be worn. "We've been trying to work on this thing for over a year, quite honestly. It's a task where we want to continue the tradition of the University of Washington football program and all the greats that have come before us, but also do something that we think is really classy and new age for 2013."
> Sarkisian on the offensive line: "We had a unique season last year where we just got hammered by injuries. In turn, we've got eight guys that have started multiple games for us on our offensive line. We don't have a senior on our offensive line yet, so I think our future looks very bright. I like the depth that we have."
> On Danny Shelton: "I really thought the second half of spring, Danny Shelton played as good as football on the defensive line as we've seen around here in quite some time. Maybe since Daniel Te'o-Nesheim."
> Sarkisian said he's "excited to see" redshirt DB Cleveland Wallace, S Brandon Beaver and TB Dwayne Washington. "I think they have a chance to be really good football players for us. "
> Sarkisian said he's hoping for closure from the legal end on Austin Seferian-Jenkins' DUI charge following the July 15 pre-trial hearing. He said Washington will make its decision after that. Seferian-Jenkins' first pre-trial hearing July 1 was set over to this later date. Sarkisian also said Seferian-Jenkins is working out with the team in the summer and they have met a few times.
> On Keith Price: "He's in the best physical shape I've seen him since I've been here. He's in a great frame of mind. I feel great about where Keith is at. I haven't felt better about Keith Price mentally, physically and emotionally since he's been in our program."
> He also said there are two barber chairs just outside the revamped lockerroom to bring barbers in.
