In somewhat of a surprise, the Washington Huskies will play in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl at 11:20 a.m. PT on Dec. 26 in Dallas and they will play against the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. ESPN will broadcast the game live.
It will be UW’s first appearance in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, which is affiliated with Conference-USA and the Big 12, but needed an at-large team after not enough Big 12 teams achieved bowl eligibility.
The game will be played at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas.
UW is making a bowl appearance for the sixth consecutive season, which is the third-longest streak in school history. Several projections had the Huskies in the Armed Forces Bowl against Air Force – the bowls are operated by the same ownership – but California will play against Air Force instead.
The Washington State Cougars are going to the Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, and will play the Miami Hurricanes at 11 a.m. on the same day as the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
