With the Washington Huskies set to begin their spring practice season with an 8:30 a.m. workout on Monday, the school released an updated roster this morning to reflect some early enrollees, position changes and new heights and weights.
There are no departures that haven’t already been reported -- Dwayne Washington (NFL draft), Deontae Cooper (transfer to San Jose State) and Dane Crane (medical retirement) are the only three -- but there will be a few new faces and a few players practicing at different positions.
Most notably, fifth-year senior Jeff Lindquist has moved from quarterback to tight end, a development that had been in the works for a while. Will Dissly, who will be a junior, is now a tight end/defensive lineman. He saw some action at tight end in the Heart of Dallas Bowl and spent some time practicing there in the leadup to the game. And Connor Griffin, the former Gonzaga basketball walk-on, has moved from tight end to wide receiver. Also note that senior Joe Mathis is now listed as an outside linebacker after being listed as a defensive end his first three seasons at UW.
There are also three newcomers on UW’s spring roster -- freshman outside linebacker Amandre Williams (Tahoma), freshman kicker/punter Van Soderberg (Capital), and third-year sophomore defensive back Mason Stone, a walk-on from Santa Monica College who prepped at Mountlake Terrace.
