Free agents sign

Seven players from Washington universities signed free agent contracts Monday, one day after the conclusion of the NFL draft.

Four former Washington Huskies signing were defensive tackle Manase Hopoi with Minnesota, tailback James Sims with the New York Giants, offensive tackle Robin Meadow with the Baltimore Ravens, and linebacker Evan Benjamin with Seattle.

Washington State tight end Troy Bienemann signed with New Orleans, and WSU center Nick Mihlhauser signed with San Diego.

Eastern Washington quarterback Erik Meyer signed with Cincinnati.

Two local players were drafted Sunday, as UW offensive tackle Joe Toledo was taken in the fourth round by Miami, and WSU tailback Jerome Harrison was picked in the fifth round by Cleveland.
