Who's likely to start? Suggs? Overton? Ross?

Huskies play their Pac-10 home opener at Hec Ed tonight against Oregon. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m., and the game will be shown on FSN.

While a game against the Ducks is always something, the news about Abdul Gaddy's season-ending knee injury has overwhelmed anything else in advance of this game. And while the primary news so far has simply been regret for this bad luck befalling this good guy. But with tonight's game the season inevitably moves on -- and the Huskies inevitably move on as a weakened team.

Also inevitable is speculation about who will move into Gaddy's starting spot. Coach Lorenzo Romar wasn't telling yesterday, and frankly he may not have known.

I do not expect it to be Venoy Overton. With the Huskies' three-point-guard rotation now a think of the past, I think it makes sense to keep either Isaiah Thomas or Overton on the floor at all times ... but having both on the floor rarely ... and certainly not at the opening tip.

For the opening tip, I'd probably guess Scott Suggs, who is a veteran jack-of-all-trades. C.J. Wilcox isn't yet fully healthy, and may not even play today. Meanwhile, Terrence Ross is probably more valuable as instant offense off the bench, taking up some scoring slack when either Thomas or Holiday or MBA gets their first rest.

But that's just a hunch. We'll find out soon enough.
