Huskies react to their all-conference honors

The university has provided these coach and player reactions to today's Pac-10 men's basketball awards:

Head Coach Lorenzo RomarOn the players accomplishments) This is Isaiah’s third all-conference award. First year, he was second team. This is a repeat of last year when he was on the first team. I think it’s great, I think he deserves it, no doubt. If we could have done a better job as a team he could have been in there for player of the year as well.

Matthew, for him to be the most improved player in the conference, voted by the coaches, just shows his tremendous improvement and development. He definitely deserved it, he played as well as any of the top three big men in the league this year.

C.J. Wilcox, did a nice job for us, it’s good to see him get awarded, even Terrence Ross, honorable mention All-Freshman team. Then Mathew and Justin on honorable mention All-Defensive team … so I’m really proud of the guys in that regard.

Sr. F Mathew Bryan-AmaningIt feels good. I just want to thank everybody like all my teammates and coaching staff, they put me in a position to receive it. Obviously I wouldn’t be in a position like this without those guys, so I just want to thank them.

On if winning awards like this as a senior validates his career at UW) It just shows a lot of hard work. Coaches put a lot of effort into helping me become a better player. I’ve come along ways since freshman year.

Jr. G Isaiah ThomasOn earning 1st team All-Pac 10) It’s an honor, but we’re trying to win bigger and better things, trying to win a Pac-10 championship.

On being named to the all-conference team for a 3rd time, and how to top that) Try to get Pac-10 Player of the Year. That’s the ultimate goal. Like you said, it’s my third year on the All-Pac 10 team, so it’s not a surprise but I’m going to try to get better and better each year.

RS-Fr. G C.J. WilcoxOn how it feels to be honored as a member of the All-Freshman team) It feels good, it was kind of unexpected with all those mid-season injuries and everything, but it happened. When I got the text it was a really good feeling. I texted all my family and got congratulated by them, so it just feels really good.

On improving upon this in the coming years I just want to become a more complete and better basketball player. I want to get stronger, work on my ball-handling, work on driving more instead of just being a spot up shooter. I just want to become an all-round better player.
