This year, that budding rivalry will get the full ESPN treatment on Jan. 28 when UW travels to Tucson.
ESPN announced that College Basketball Gameday will travel to Tucson for the game. The crew of Rece Davis, Digger Phelps, Hubert Davis and Jay Bilas will broadcast the hour-long show live from McKale Center in the morning, leading up to the 6 p.m. (PT) game.
Last season in Tucson on Feb. 19, the two teams hooked up in an amazing game with Wildcats narrowly escaping on with an 87-86 win over the Huskies, thanks to this final play.
The last time Washington was involved in a ESPN College Basketball Gameday contest was 2010 when the Huskies faced UCLA at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Washington won that game 97-68 to start a nine-game win streak that did not come to an end until the Huskies lost in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament to West Virginia.
Regardless of where the game is being played, being a part of Gameday is nice exposure for the program.
