Second-stringers outplay top Dawgs in scrimmage Saturday

Editor's note: Late getting this up - I had a wedding to attend Saturday afternoon on.

Here is Dave Boling's recount of the events of the scrimmage Saturday (which sounded like a snooze-fest by the No. 1 offense and defense).

Some more specifics about the scrimmage:

* Keith Price went 8-of-15 for 76 yards, but was victimized by dropped passes (Devin Aguilar being the biggest culprit) in three drives against the No. 2 defense.

He did score on a 2-yard plunge.

* Nick Montana finished up a strong week with his best scrimmage showing in a while, going 13-of-24 for 135 yards. He threw a 3-yard TD pass to Evan Hudson, and also led the No. 2 offense to a field goal.

Of the 135 yards, 117 came against the No. 1 defense, which really could not limit Montana and his teammates to short drives.

* No real rushing attack to speak of in the absence of Chris Polk (knee). Johri Fogerson had 37 yards on six carres, and Jesse Callier had 25 yards on seven carries.
