Quick Pac-12 picks ...

Early game, plus my beloved Grizzlies are playing Montana State means an abbreviated picks post today.

Utah (-4) at Washington St.

The pick ...  every week I pick against Utah. Every week I'm wrong.Obviously, WSU phenom Connor Halliday won't replicate his stunning debut. And he's going against a much better defense. But if the Cougs can pull off the upset, the Apple Cup would be vastly more interesting. So I will take WSU for that reason.

If I were a betting man ... take the four points and hope that Utah QB Jon Hays is forced to throw.

Colorado at UCLA (-11)

The pick ... Who knows what UCLA team will show up. They are totally inconsistent and totally unpredictable. And as bad as they are, they are still better than Colorado. UCLA has legit Pac 12 South title hopes. Rick Neuheisel has employment hopes. I'm going with the Bruins, but won't be the least  bit surprised if they lose.

If I were a betting man ... 11 points is an awful lot to give. Take the points because UCLA doesn't have enough of a balanced attack to make it a rout.

USC at Oregon  (-15)

The pick ... It's the battle between a team on probation and a team most likely to end up on probation. Oregon is going to win. Chip Kelly vs. Lane Kiffin? I would take Kelly in every conceivable competition, even personality.

If I were a betting man ... With an outside chance at the BCS title game and a national TV audience, Kelly will run it up if possible. Give all the points.

Arizona at Arizona St (-19)

The pick ... the only redeeming thing about this game will be the weather. Arizona State will win because Arizona is just rudderless right now. On the bright side for the Wildcats, it looks like they will get Mike Bellotti to be their head coach which is a good thing.

If I were a betting man ... 19 points is too many to give for a team that commits penalties like the Sun Devils. This would be a good game to tease along with Oregon and Stanford

California at Stanford  (-17)

The pick ... Stanford is going to win. There's no question about it. Cal has a decent football team, but the Cardinal are going to be a little angry and looking to take it on their top rival.

If I were a betting man ... it seems like 17 is a lot to give. But with the BCS title hopes gone, Stanford is still trying to get a BCS bowl and Andrew Luck the Heisman, expect some big numbers in the game, give the 17.
