Apple Cup 2011: Mid-morning reading on Marquess Wilson, Keith Price and others

Todd Milles has the centerpiece story today in the TNT, writing about WSU wide receiver Marquess Wilson, who leads the Pac-12 in receiving yards with 1,280 on 75 catches. That's an average of 17.1 yards per game. He also has 10 touchdowns.

From Todd's story ....

But, oh boy, how Wilson has developed into one of the most complete receivers in the country. And Mike Levenseller should know – the WSU assistant is one of the best receivers coaches around.

“His concentration, at times, wanes – but his ball skills are unbelievable,” Levenseller said. “He is doing a lot better job on the perimeter getting his pad level down. He is getting feistier in the run game. He does not show any fear cracking a safety on a block.

“Look around our league, there are monsters everywhere. But I don’t think there is anyone more athletic.”

Wilson’s numbers in two seasons are ridiculous. He has 2,286 yards and 16 touchdown receptions in 23 games. Both are already top-10 career marks for the Cougars.

Here's my story on head coach Steve Sarkisian confirming that Keith Price will start the Apple Cup.
