Nick Montana released from scholarship, will transfer

In a move that many people expected, the University of Washington announced that redshirt freshman quarterback Nick Montana has asked for and been granted a release from his scholarship.

With Keith Price firmly ensconced as the starting quarterback for the next two seasons and heralded recruits Cyler Miles and Jeff Lindquist set to join the team, the window for playing time got very small for Montana.

He played in six games, including one start at Oregon State, and threw for 226 yards on 24-of-42 passing with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

ESPN is reporting that Montana is looking at two junior colleges - Blinn Junior College in Texas and El Camino Community College in California, which is where Steve Sarkisian went to.
