Some transcribed quotes from the players after the jump

Darnell Gant (on KJR postgame show)

On the game

I really had to bounce back. Last game was tough, it was a big game for first place, but God always has a plan. Cal lost tonight so we are still right in the hunt for first place. I had to put the last game behind me. A lot of things were said to me after last game, a lot of negativity but like you said I just put it behind and focused on this game.

On bouncing back

I tried to go out there and help be a leader, kind of forget about last game. It started with offensive rebounds. They weren’t boxing out very well and I got a couple tip ins, a couple cheap ones. After my first shot, I felt like I got a good look, but I came up short like I did in the last game. I had to contribute in other places, so offensive rebounding and had to start hitting my open shots.

On the run in the 2nd half

We just made some plays, Coach Romar calls them winning plays. Getting offensive rebounds and defensive stops, and chasing down balls. You know, just making big shots and plays when we have to.

On wrist injury

I took the brace off this game, it still hurts a little bit but I felt like it wasn’t necessary anymore to wear.

Abdul Gaddy

Did you feel like you had an advantage today being matched up against Aaron Bright?

That matchup, I felt like I could get to the basket every time and make a play for myself or a teammate.  I tried to come out and be very aggressive.

Were you surprised by how easily you won today?

If we play the right way I am not surprised that we can win all of our games.  We are a young team and we just have to stay consistent.

What does Austin Seferian-Jenkins do for you guys out there?

We feel like every time he is in the game that he is going to get every rebound.  He is a big spark for us on defense, and on offense he can score in the post as well.

Did you feel like you were tougher as a team today?

That it is a big staple of our team, and I think that Austin [Seferian-Jenkins], Aziz [N’Diaye], Desmond [Simmons], and Darnell [Gant] give us that presence.  We want to be the tougher team no matter who we play.

What was the reason behind playing as many as three big men at times?

It was more that we were trying to mix up things, because they have quality depth and we had to give some guys rest, but we practice that.  Our bigs know how to play wing spots.  We were fine, and it wasn’t like they were playing long periods at a time.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins

What was it like being out there for the first time?

It was fun out there.  I had a great time with my teammates. It was cool, it was just like practice.  Like I said it was fun.

Did you think you would get that many minutes today?

I just prepared and didn’t worry about how many minutes I would play. I just hope that every game I am going to get in and today I did and it was fun.

Does this compare to how nervous you were your first time playing at Husky stadium?

The first time I went out and played at Husky stadium I wasn’t nervous, and the first time I went out today I wasn’t nervous, so I mean, it’s all good.  I was just trying to have fun.

Terrence Ross

What was the mindset about coming out sluggish today?

The mindset was that if we came out sluggish that we would put ourselves in a bad position in the second half.  We knew this was a very good team, one of the best in the conference, and if we cannot come out sluggish like we did against Cal.

On second half performance the last two games

After the WSU game these two teams have played me differently so it just takes a little time to figure out what they are giving me.  I just have to stay patient and find other ways to contribute to the team and be successful.
