Some quick notes: UW to play home and home with UConn, Pac-12 tourney headed to Vegas

A few notes to get to before Lorenzo Romar's press conference at 12:45

First note is about scheduling for next season with the Huskies. UW assistant coach Jim Shaw was on KJR with Dave "Softy" Mahler. It was a relatively standard interview, but at the end, Shaw, who was in charge of the Huskies scheduling, said they 99% close to reaching an agreement to play a home and home with Connecticut starting next season.

Washington would go to Storrs, Conn., next year, most likely playing onDec. 29 to play the Huskies. UConn would then come to Montlake the following season.  UW would be making two trips to Connecticut next season, since its also playing in a preseason tournament at the Mohegan Sun. If this deal gets finalized, and it likely will, that would mean UW will likely play Seton Hall, Ohio State and UConn next season.

And the other piece of major news concerning scheduling next year came in the form of a tweet from Jon Wilner reporting that the Pac-12 will be playing its conference tournament at the MGM in Las Vegas next season. Wilner also joined KJR and you can hear the interview below.

Yes, this pleases all the writers. No, it's not because we are gambling degenerates.... well at least some of us aren't. This is a good thing for everyone involved. Having the tournament in Los Angeles every year stinks. The city doesn't support it when UCLA or USC is bad, the city barely supports it when USC or UCLA are good. This is a win-win for everyone involved. Las Vegas is a place people want to go to. I have friends, who are Gonzaga fans, that go to the WCC tournament every year not matter what. Even if the Zags weren't good, which hasn't happened in a while, they would still go. Why? Because the tournament is in Las Vegas. Everyone is looking for an excuse to go there. Playing the Pac-12 tourney there offers that to everyone.

Bracketology watching ... here's the latest:

Joe Lunardi's last bracket has UW as an 11-seed playing Vanderbilt in Nashville.

SI's Andy Glockner in his latest bracket has UW also going to Nashville as No.12 seed playing UNLV.

CBS Sports' Jerry Palm latest bracket has the Huskies as a No. 13 seed playing in Portland against Murray State.
