Huskies will host Oregon on Tuesday in NIT quarterfinals

Nearly every Washington player said they wanted to play the Oregon Ducks on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the NIT. Well, they got their wish.

Update: Here's Lorenzo Romar's statement about playing the Ducks.

"We have a tough challenge ahead of us. The last time we played them, they were terrific. We have been watching them ever since and they have been on a roll. They are playing extremely good basketball. This is a game where we have a chance to go to New York – we are both fighting for that. It should be a great ballgame."

The Oregon Ducks rallied from a 14-point deficit and defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes, 108-97, at Matthew Knight Arena on Sunday to set up a third game between the two Pac-12 rivals on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Arena.

I watched most of the game and Oregon was really offensively. They shared the basketball (26 assists on 35 field goals), knocked down shots from the perimeter (10-of-23 from 3-point range) and made their free throws (28-of-32).  They are playing at a pretty high level and seem to get contributions from everyone. The Ducks had 5 five player in double figures - including two players off the bench.

It was an offensive showing similar to what Washington endured in an 82-57 loss to the Ducks in Eugene.

Obviously, playing at UW will make a difference. But the Huskies will have to bring the type of execution and intensity on defense that they showed in the second half of Friday's win over Northwestern.
