Terrence Ross selected by the Toronto Raptors with the eighth pick

When NBA draft experts said Terrence Ross' draft stock was rising, they weren't lying. The Huskies sophomore shooting guard Terrence Ross was selected by the Toronto with the eighth pick of the first round of the 2012 draft.

Here's video of the pick

Ross, a silky 6-7 shooting guard from Portland, averaged 16.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this past season for the Huskies. He was projected early in the process as a late round pick. But over the past month, his ability to shoot from the outside and his legnth propelled him into the NBA draft green room and now the top 10.

"It's just a blessing," Ross told ESPN's Mark Jones on the telecast. "I can't even describe how I feel right now."

What did he do to impress the Raptors?

"I think must my all-around game," he said. "I got to the basket, shot the ball well and my overall defensive intensity."

Ross is fourth UW player to be drafted in the Top 10 in the modern draft era, joining Detlef Schrempf, Brandon Roy and Spencer Hawes.

If you look at this draft breakdown from NBA.com, it lists perimeter shooting as a need. Ross definitely brings that to the team. Here's some video of Ross talking about his predraft workout with the Raptors
