Wroten shines in NBA summer league debut

Tony Wroten's NBA debut couldn't have gone much better for the Memphis Grizzlies. The 25th pick of the first round filled up the stat sheet and did a little everything - including knocking down a few shots from the perimeter in a 93-77 win over the Knicks.

Wroten scored 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out six assists, had four turnovers and also two steals.

He was 5-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-3 from 3-point range. No, that's not a typo. I watched the game. Wroten sank a pair of free throws in between the corner and elbow of the 3-point line. Both looked like good clean shots. He was also 8 of 9 from the free-throw line.

From the game story in the Commercial Appeal ...

"I use it as motivation," Wroten said. "I know I can shoot. Every day I work on my jump shot and you could see in the game that if I continue to work on it, the ball will fall for me. I just try to shoot it the same way every time."

Here's another video interview ...

Wroten will be in action again on Tuesday. That game will only be televised on NBA.com.

Meanwhile, Terrence Ross will play his second game today at 3:30 p.m. on the NBA network.
