Husky hoops teams adds walk-on from Mercer Island

From the press release ....

Lorenzo Romar announced today that Quinn Sterling, a sophomore from Mercer Island, Wash., will join the Husky Basketball team as a walk-on.

Sterling, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard, was first team All-KingCo as a junior and second team as a senior and sophomore at Mercer Island High School. He lettered all four years for the Islanders, playing as a freshman for legendary coach Ed Pepple and for Gavin Cree as a sophomore, junior and senior.

After breaking his right leg during the first game of his senior season, Sterling returned in time to help Mercer Island at the district playoffs and state championship. He played in the 3A/4A All-State game and scored 14 points for the 3A team.

As a junior, Sterling averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He scored 12 points per game as a sophomore.

Sterling was also an accomplished water polo player, earning all-state honors as a freshman and sophomore.

Sterling hopes to major in business at Washington. He currently holds a 3.45 grade point average.

Both Sterling's parents - mom, Eileen, and dad, Kelly - attended Washington. Kelly was a member of the UW swim team and was the Pac-8 Champion in the 200 Fly in 1977.
