UW defensive back Patrick Enewally dismissed from the team

Washington defensive back Patrick Enewally, a redshirt freshman from Norwalk, Calif., has been dismissed from the program, a UW spokesperson confirmed. A reason for his dismissal was not provided. UPDATE: A source told the News Tribune that Enewally was involved in an altercation with a teammate earlier this week, which could have provided the impetus for his dismissal.

Enewally, who redshirted last season, signed as part of former coach Steve Sarkisian's final recruiting class at Washington. Due to UW's lack of depth in the secondary, Enewally probably would have had an opportunity to earn playing time in 2014.

He becomes the first player to be dismissed from the team since coach Chris Petersen took over. Three other players have served suspensions of some sort -- quarterback Cyler Miles and receiver Damore'ea Stringfellow remain indefinitely suspended, and linebacker John Timu served a two-week suspension in March.
