QB Cyler Miles won't play in Huskies' opener at Hawaii

FROM HOLLYWOOD -- Washington coach Chris Petersen isn't scheduled to meet with media here until 11:30 a.m., but there is already some news regarding the Huskies' quarterback situation.

UW confirmed that Cyler Miles, who was investigated but not charged in connection with the same incident that resulted in three misdemeanor charges against receiver Damore'ea Stringfellow, will not play in the Huskies' season opener Aug. 30 at Hawaii.

Petersen also said as much during a radio interview with Dave Mahler of Sports Radio KJR 950 AM.

So that means the Huskies will be starting a quarterback -- third-year sophomore Jeff Lindquist or redshirt freshman Troy Williams -- who has not attempted a collegiate pass.

Petersen said Miles will be available to play in UW's second game of the season against Eastern Washington at Husky Stadium.
