Chris Petersen declines to address report of Marcus Peters suspension

Chris Petersen benched star Huskies cornerback Marcus Peters during Saturday's game against Eastern Washington after Peters was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, extending an EWU drive that eventually led a touchdown.

The Seattle Times is reporting that Peters will serve a one-game suspension for that miscue and subsequent sideline outburst. Petersen would not address that report during his Monday press conference.

"I told you after the game we've got to conduct ourselves the right way," Petersen said. "We have discipline things, we keep those in-house, and we go from there."

Petersen was asked whether said disciplinary action would stem from Peters' penalty, or from the way he acted on the sideline afterward.

"I'm not going to address any of that right now," Petersen said. "We'll talk about that down the road."

Peters, a fourth-year junior, is considered a potential NFL draft pick in 2015 and is by far the Huskies' most experienced defensive back. A suspension would further weaken a UW defense that allowed Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams to throw for 476 yards and seven touchdowns in UW's 59-52 victory on Saturday.
