Chris Petersen expects WR John Ross to 'suit up and play' against Stanford

Huskies coach Chris Petersen met with reporters earlier today for the final time before Washington's game against Stanford on Saturday, and it sounds as if he expects sophomore receiver John Ross to be able to play.

Ross sat out last week's 45-14 victory over Georgia State with a leg injury, but Petersen said Thursday that the expectation this week is for Ross to "suit up and play. That's our expectation, and we'll kind of go from there after that." Ross, who practiced this week, leads the Huskies with 224 yards receiving on six catches with three touchdowns.

Petersen also said right tackle Ben Riva was able to practice this week, and that he will suit up for Saturday's game. Whether he plays will likely be a game-time decision, as usual. Riva has been bothered by a nagging injury and has only played in one of UW's games (Eastern Washington) this season.

"We'll see if he plays or not, but he has practiced," Petersen said.

Defensive end Joe Mathis is also back with the team and practiced this week after taking what Petersen described as "personal time."
