Gameday links: California game no longer a gimme

FROM BERKELEY -- Technically we're in Walnut Creek, but will make the drive into into Berkeley later this morning for Washington's 3 p.m. game against California at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. You can watch on Pac-12 Networks, unless you're a DirecTV subscriber, and then you can watch it somewhere else. The game will also air on KOMO 1000 AM (and 97.7 FM) in the Seattle area. Time for some links.

--- Our advance of the game in today's newspaper looks at how much the complexion of this matchup has changed due to Cal's resurgence. The pick: Washington 34, California 31.

--- The Bears are "surprisingly good."

--- Cal, needing two wins to attain bowl eligibility, isn't looking past Washington (could you have imagined a headline like that before the season started?)

--- From Cal linebacker Michael Barton, via the San Francisco Chronicle: "If I'm Washington, and I'm looking at our film, I'm going to want to throw the ball. Stopping the run I don't think will be an issue."

--- Here's a preview of the game from the Associated Press.

--- Stanford outmuscled Washington State last night in Palo Alto, taking a 34-17 victory to improve to 4-2 and drop the Cougars to 2-5.

Two other Pac-12 games today ...

Oregon at UCLA, 12:30 p.m., FOX -- Do you trust the Ducks? ... Each team already has a loss, but this is still a huge game in the landscape of the Pac-12 championship race.

USC at Arizona, 7:30 p.m., ESPN2 -- This could again be a turning point for the Trojans' season. ... Five storylines to watch from an Arizona perspective.
