Morning links: Huskies open as 19-point underdogs at Oregon

Oregon week begins in earnest this morning, as the Huskies will practice before coach Chris Petersen holds his weekly 1 p.m. press conference. Think he might get asked about this game? Anyway, here are some links.

--- Make sure to vote in our Sunday night poll.

--- Here are the week's opening betting lines courtesy of VegasInsider.com, with Oregon opening as anywhere from a  19-to-21-point favorite over the visiting Huskies. If that seems high, keep in mind the Huskies haven't come within 17 points of the Ducks since the last time they beat them, in 2003.

--- Shaq Thompson was named Athlon's national defensive player of the week after recording 11 tackles and returning a fumble 100 yards for a touchdown in UW's 31-7 victory over California.

--- Hau'oli Kikaha is a nominee for the LOTT Impact player of the week.

--- California reverted to its 2013 form in its loss to Washington.

--- Can Shaq Thompson help the Huskies finally beat Oregon?

--- Thompson's performance also made Sports On Earth's "honor roll."

--- There's some mention of Washington in this Oregon notebook from the Register-Guard.

--- Oregon is a top-10 team again, checking in at No. 9 in the AP top 25 poll after beating UCLA.

--- Here's what Oregon coach Mark Helfrich said about the Huskies, via the Oregonian: "Well just watching their defense they create a ton of pressure on the quarterback. They've had a million takeaways defensively and they're very versatile on defense. I haven't watched any of their offense or special teams yet, I'll do that later on in the week but very talented. A lot of the same personnel they had last year, a bunch of the speed on all levels, up front, their second level guys and their secondary."

--- UCLA coach Jim Mora says the season isn't lost yet. Maybe not, but the Bruins' College Football Playoff hopes certainly appear to be.

--- Steve Sarkisian hopes for USC's offense to be more explosive.

--- An Oregon State defensive tackle will have surgery.

--- Arizona State's defensive line is trying to grow up quickly.

--- Despite losing to USC, Arizona can still make a splash in the second half of the season.

--- A Colorado senior donates time to charity.
