2013-14 earnings: Moore has made $2.25 million (14th on the PGA Tour), Putnam has made $326,052 (141st on the PGA Tour), and Stanley has earned $237,128 (159th on the PGA Tour).
Last tournament: After playing three consecutive weeks, ending with a missed cut at the HP Byron Nelson Championship (2-over-par 142) on May 16, Moore took last week off to prepare for one of his favorite tournaments at “Jack’s Place.” After this week, he will take another week off entering the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, where he played his final major championship as an amateur in 2005. As good as he has been this season — the Cascade Christian High School graduate has made 11 of 14 tournament cuts — he has struggled in second-round scoring since February, averaging 74.0 strokes per round. By winning last season’s regular- season money title on the Web.com Tour, Putnam gained automatic entry into Jack Nicklaus’ invitational tournament on one of the best courses in the world. With back-to-back top-45 finishes, including a tied-for-38th showing at last week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, is Putnam ready to bust through for a top-10 finish soon? He seems to be treading water until that type of breakthrough. The good news for Stanley is that he has made five consecutive cuts, including a tied-for-68th effort at the Colonial. The bad news is that he has made a combined $75,000 in those events. But he loves the Memorial, and he finished third there last season (7-under 281).
Tee times Thursday: Stanley at 5:04 a.m. (PDT) off the 10th tee, Moore at 5:26 a.m. off the first tee and Putnam at 5:48 a.m. off the 10th tee.
