Top performer: Katelyn Evans, Puyallup, sr.
Scored 3 goals – in 6-1 win against Emerald Ridge
Skyline 1, Kentridge 1: The Chargers were seconds from a high-profile nonleague win.
But Skyline’s Emma Rohleder got past Kentridge’s diving goalkeeper, then struck it into the back of the net from the right side to tie the match in the 89th minute.
Both teams reached the 4A state tournament last year.
Hannah Lin gave Kentridge a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute off an assist from UW commit Olivia Van der Jagt.
Tahoma 2, Todd Beamer 0: This will do, for now.
Zoe Milburn broke a scoreless tie almost halfway through the second half as the Bears held on for the nonleague victory, winning in the same fashion as which their season ended a year ago.
Beamer defeated Tahoma, 2-0, in a winner-to-state match in the 4A district playoffs last year.
This didn’t have nearly as much on the line, being a nonleague match to open their seasons, but Tahoma broke through when Laura Pierson found Milburn in the 58th minute. Emily Darcy added an insurance goal in the 77th minute. Brianna Aldridge earned the shutout for Tahoma in goal.
Stadium 6, Central Kitsap 4: Makenzie Burks and Samantha Putnam each recorded a hat trick as the Tigers earned the nonleague win over the Cougars in a nonleague match.
Stadium has now outscored Central Kitsap 11-5 dating back to the Tigers’ nonleague win last year.
Lauren Hudson scored two goals for Central Kitsap.
Curtis 2, Graham-Kapowsin 1: Maya Williams tied it up and Emma Martin scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 67th minute as the Vikings rallied to beat the Eagles in a 4A SPSL match for their first win of the season.
Emma Thompson gave Graham-Kapowsin the lead with her 50th-minute goal. But Williams tied it three minutes later on an assist from Alicia Bodhaine.
Curtis earned its first win. It opened the season with a 0-0 draw on Saturday against Puyallup.
Puyallup 6, Emerald Ridge 1: Katelyn Evans scored her first goal of the season, then added two more, to lift the Vikings over the Jaguars for the 4A SPSL victory.
Evans, who scored 34 goals with 14 assists when she played for Fife last year, gave Puyallup a 3-1 lead in the 41st minute.
Katie Cunningham scored two goals in the first half. She put Puyallup on the scoreboard with a goal from Hallie Johnson in the sixth minute, but Britney Arneson answered for Emerald Ridge in the 20th. Cunningham gave the Vikings a lead they wouldn’t look back from in the 37th.
Evans scored in the 41st, 75th, and 79th minutes.
Gig Harbor 4, West Seattle 2: Kaysie Bruce scored two goals and assisted on another as the Tides overcame an early deficit to run away from West Seattle in the season opener.
Leahi Manthei and Jaylynn Barton also scored for Gig Harbor, which trailed 1-0 after Kate Veenhuizen scored in the 13th minute.
Bruce answered off an assist from Imani Bennett 13 minutes later before Manthei scored the go-ahead goal.
Bonney Lake 4, White River 4: Annabelle Hall recorded a hat trick for the Hornets, but Bonney Lakey’s Kaylee Coatney scored with eight minutes remaining to tie the match and force the nonleague draw.
Coatney played a hand in every goal – she assisted on the previous three before tying it up in the 72nd minute.
Hall tied the match at 1-1 with her goal off a pass from Zoe Grimm in the fourth minute before she answered with her second goal in the 11th minute, this one off a set up from Chloe Narolski.
She tied it up again in the 64th minute and Haylee Gunter gave White River the lead with her goal in the 68th before Bonney Lake tied it back up.
