Gonzaga Preparatory may be the defending Class 4A champion, but its players never forget that this is a new team with different skills.
Gonzaga Prep turned a defensive blitz into a 54-29 quarterfinal win over Bothell (20-6). The Cougars scored just eight points in the second half against the undefeated Bullpups (25-0).
“We’re a young team,” said Bullpups star senior post Otiona Gildon. “We knew we had to start off early, continue to play good defense, solid offense and just run our stuff.”
Gildon scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while senior guard Laura Stockton added 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.
