West Seattle shot 6-for-30 in the first half to enter the locker room down 23-22, but recovered quickly, opening the second half with nine unanswered points to beat Prairie, 54-45, in a loser-out 3A girls basketball game at the Tacoma Dome.
“We just talked about playing for the girls next to us,” senior Charli Elliott said. “We know how to play together, sometimes it just takes a bit.”
Elliott scored 13 for the Wildcats, including 5-of-6 free throws during the last 35 seconds to seal the victory. Senior Emily Fiso led with 14 points, 10 boards.
Prairie goes home, but broke tournament records for most 3-pointers attempted in a single game with 45 – it tied the record for most 3-pointers made in a single game with 11 – and most 3-pointers attempted in the tournament with 69.
