The skinny: Four days in North Carolina and the Vikings finished strong, earning their third win of the tournament. Puyallup scored three runs in the second inning off an error and a two-run single by Ryan Peterson. Griffin Stiffarm allowed just two hits and struck out six in six innings for Puyallup. “He almost got cut last year,” Puyallup coach Marc Wiese said in a phone interview. “He never really committed himself and we asked him to commit himself and he did. He lost about 40 pounds and gained five, six miles per hour on his fastball.” The Vikings did not allow a run in their three wins, with their only loss coming Thursday against Huntington Beach (California), 6-0.

What’s next: Puyallup flies home on a 4 p.m. flight Sunday. The Vikings then play Bethel on Monday, Rogers on Tuesday and Curtis on Thursday.
