AP All-State teams: Federal Way’s Viont’e Daniels named 4A player of the year

Federal Way senior Viont’e Daniels was named The Associated Press 4A state boys basketball player of the year after helping the Eagles this season win their second 4A state title.

Daniels averaged 24 points, six rebounds and four assists per game for Federal Way this season.

Daniels was named The News Tribune’s 2014-15 All-Area boys basketball player of the year and a TNT first-team all-state pick.

Bellarmine Prep junior Malachi Flynn and Stadium senior Bobby Moorehead, a Montana commit, were honorable mention selections on the 4A team. Moorehead was a TNT first-team All-Area selection and Flynn made the second team.

Peninsula junior JaQuori McLaughlin, a UW commit, was named to the 3A first-team all-state with Wilson junior David Jenkins Jr. an honorable mention selection. Both were named to The News Tribune’s second-team all-state (encompassing every classification) as well as the TNT first-team All-Area.

Tumwater’s David Cooper made the 2A first-team all-state and Vashon Island senior Jessie Norton was a 1A honorable mention pick, as was Life Christian sophomore Luke Lovelady for the 2B team. Lovelady was also a TNT second-team All-Area pick.

Todd Beamer junior Bria Rice, TNT’s 2014-15 All-Area girls basketball player of the year, was named to an AP’s 4A honorable mention pick after commiting to Colorado this weekend. White River’s Amanda Lance was a 2A honorable mention.
