Alex Whiting scored in the 72nd minute to break a tie and lift the Curtis High School boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Emerald Ridge in 4A South Puget Sound League South action on Wednesday.
Nick Wunderle put the Vikings on the scoreboard with a goal in the 38th minute, but Emerald Ridge’s Ryan Walton responded a minute later with a goal for the Jaguars. It was knotted at 1 until Whiting’s late goal.
Curtis (6-4-1; 6-1-0 4A SPSL South) kept pace with top-seeded Puyallup with the win. Emerald Ridge fell to 3-7-1 overall and 2-5-0 in league play.
Auburn Mountainview 3, Enumclaw 0: The Lions scored in the 13th minute on a penalty kick by Duvan Vaca-Trujillo. Soon after Erik De Anda scored in the 22nd minute and then again in the 36th with an assist from Saul Jimenez.
Auburn Mountainview improved to 5-4-0 overall and 5-3-0 in 3A SPSL play. Enumclaw fell to 3-6-1 overall and 2-6-0 in league play.
