These top recruits are set to play in WIAA high school football state championship games in 2023
The high school football state championships will be played Friday and Saturday, and there will be plenty of star power on the field at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
There are 15 recruits in the senior and junior classes set to play in title games this weekend who have a three- or four-star rating by at least one major recruiting service, and several are already committed to Division I programs or have multiple Division I offers.
Here’s a look at the top recruits set to play for championship trophies in 2023.

RB/LB Brayden Platt, Yelm, sr. — Four-star recruit is a standout running back and linebacker for the defending 3A state champion Tornados, who enter this weekend’s title game undefeated and with the longest active winning streak in the state at 27 games. Oregon commit paces the Tornados rushing attack with 119 carries for 1,324 yards and 22 touchdowns, and has another nine catches for 86 yards and a score. He has 98 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, two sacks and an interception on defense this fall. Platt is considered the state’s top recruit in the 2024 class by 247Sports, No. 4 by Rivals and No. 3 by ESPN, and is nationally ranked on the Top247 (No. 50) and ESPN300 (No. 189) recruiting lists.
TE/DL Hogan Hansen, Bellevue — Four-star recruit blocks for a Wolverines Wing-T offense that averages 408.6 yards per game, is Bellevue’s leading receiver with 10 catches for 215 yards and four touchdowns, and has added 83 rushing yards and two more scores on five carries this fall. Michigan commit also plays defensive end for the Wolverines, and has 35 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries. Hansen is considered the state’s No. 2 recruit in the 2024 class by 247Sports, No. 5 by Rivals and No. 4 by ESPN, and is nationally ranked on the Top247 (No. 150) and ESPN300 (No. 287) recruiting lists.
WR Malachi Durant, Graham-Kapowsin, sr. — Three-star recruit has 64 catches for 1,025 yards and a team-leading 18 receiving touchdowns for the undefeated Eagles, who are the top seed in the 4A bracket this season. Oregon State commit also returned the opening kickoff of Graham-Kapowsin’s season-opener 90 yards for a touchdown. Considered the No. 7 recruit in the state in the 2024 class by 247Sports, and No. 16 by ESPN.
TE Noah Flores, Graham-Kapowsin, jr. — Three-star recruit has 40 catches for 399 yards and five touchdowns this fall for the undefeated Eagles, who are the top seed in the 4A bracket. Also blocks for a Graham-Kapowsin offense that averages 415.5 yards per game. Holds offers from 10 FBS programs, and is considered the state’s No. 4 recruit in the 2025 class by both 247Sports and ESPN.
RB/LB Isaiah Patterson, Yelm, sr. — Three-star recruit is a leader on defense for the undefeated 3A state champion Tornados with 98 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and three sacks at linebacker this fall. UCLA commit has also added 14 carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns, and 15 catches for 173 yards and another score on offense. Patterson is considered the state’s No. 12 recruit in the 2024 class by 247Sports, No. 6 by Rivals and No. 13 by ESPN.
OL/DL Demetri Manning, Bellevue, jr. — Three-star recruit blocks for a Wolverines Wing-T that averages 408.6 yards per game, and has added 17.5 tackles, for tackles for loss and a sack on defense for Bellevue this fall. Manning holds FBS offers from 12 programs, and is considered the state’s No. 6 recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports and No. 5 by Rivals.
RB Jayshon Limar, Lake Stevens, jr. — Three-star recruit leads the way for defending 4A state champion Lake Stevens on the ground, with 110 carries for 876 yards and 11 touchdowns, and has another 250 yards and three scores on 13 catches for the Vikings this season. Limar holds offers from eight FBS programs, and is considered the state’s No. 7 recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports.
RB/DB Ryken Moon, Bellevue, jr. — Three-star recruit is an impact player in all three phases for Bellevue. Has 46 carries for 425 yards and four touchdowns, and six catches for 159 yards and two more scores in Bellevue’s Wing-T offense. Also has a team-leading four interceptions, 42.5 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss on defense, and 202 yards on eight kickoff returns. Moon is considered the No. 8 recruit in the state in the 2025 class by 247Sports, and has two FBS offers.
RB/DB Bryce Smith, Bellevue, jr. — Three-star recruit is an impact player in all three phases for the Wolverines. Has 17 carries for 196 yards and four touchdowns, as well as seven catches for 160 yards and three more touchdowns in Bellevue’s Wing-T. Also has 44 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions on defense, seven kickoff returns for 192 yards and nine punt returns for 124 yards and another touchdown. Smith is considered the state’s No. 9 recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports, and holds an FBS offer.
WR Khris Norris, Graham-Kapowsin, jr. — Three-star recruit has 52 catches for 569 yards and seven touchdowns for the undefeated and 4A top-seeded Eagles this fall. Norris holds two FBS offers and is considered the state’s No. 11 recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports.
WR Jabez Woods, Graham-Kapowsin, sr. — Three-star recruit paces undefeated and 4A top-seeded Graham-Kapowsin’s high-flying offense with 95 catches for 1,202 yards and 10 scores, and also has a passing touchdown and rushing touchdown this fall. Montana State commit is considered the state’s No. 33 recruit in the 2024 class by 247Sports.
LB/DL Kenji Scanlan, Yelm, sr. — Three-star recruit has 67 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, five sacks and an interception at defensive end for the defending 3A state champion Tornados. Idaho commit is considered the state’s No. 37 recruit in the 2024 class by 247Sports.
WR/DB Brady Beaner, Anacortes, jr. — Three-star recruit has piled up 461 rushing yards, 699 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on offense this fall for the undefeated Seahawks, and added 74 tackles and nine passes defended on defense. Considered the state’s No. 16 recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports.
RB/LB Brock Beaner, Anacortes, jr. — Three-star recruit has rushed for 1,075 yards and 17 touchdowns on 117 carries for undefeated Anacortes this season, and has added another 290 receiving yards on offense. Also has 65 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and six sacks on defense. Considered the state’s No. 17 recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports.
QB Daveon Superales, Graham-Kapowsin, sr. — Three-star recruit leads the undefeated and 4A top-seeded Eagles both through the air and on the ground this fall. Superales has completed 280-of-368 (76.1 percent) of his passes for 3,473 yards and 44 touchdowns, and added another 706 yards and seven scores on 108 carries. Considered the state’s No. 45 recruit in the 2024 class by 247Sports.
