Mariners Minor League Report, April 28th


Taiwan native Kuo Hui Lo (right) ripped apart Cal League pitchers this week, with 4 homers in 5 games -- including a pair of roundtrippers to cap off the week on April 26. The Mariners prospect hit safely and had at least 1 RBI in each game this week. He currently leads the circuit with 6 triples and an .811 slugging percentage. Lo is riding a 6-game hitting streak into the third week of the season.

Of Note: Jason Hirsch allowed 3 hits in 7.0 innings and Eric Young, Daniel Ortmeier and Matt Murton hit solo homers as Colorado Springs earned a 5-1 victory over Tacoma on Monday. Hirsh struck out 9 and allowed 1 run when Freddy Guzman tripled and scored on a fielder's choice in the 6th. Mike Carp is hitting .471 (8x17) with 5 runs scored, 3 extra-base hits and 5 RBI during his current 4-game hit streak. Prentice Redman went 0x4 in the game ending his hitting streak at 9 games. During the streak he hit .429 (15x35) with 4 multi-hit games. Redman has also hit safely 15 of 18 games this season, batting .324 (24x74) with 17 runs scored, 4 doubles, 6 home runs and 10 RBI. Of Note: The Diamond Jaxx jumped out to an early lead and hung on Monday night to beat Mississippi, 6-5. Josh Fields came on in the 9th, looking for his 2nd save of the year, but allowed the tying run to score. Mel Stocker reached base on a walk to start the bottom of the 9th. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ezequiel Carrera and to third on a fly out to right by Oswaldo Navarro. Adam Moore was intentionally walked to bring up Greg Halman. With Halman at the plate, Braves catcher, Phillip Britton could not handle the pitch from Jeff Lyman and Stocker scored from third on the passed ball. It was the 1st last at bat win of the season for the Diamond Jaxx.

Emergency starter Blake Nation, on for a scratched Steven Hensley was solid through 4.0 innings. In his 1st career start, he allowed only 2 runs (1 ER) on 3 hits before being removed. Nate Tenbrink has recorded 6 hit in his last 7 at-bats with 2 runs scored 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.
