I guess it's never to early to start thinking about next year, so here's the 2010 schedule which was announced today.
Like this past season, the Mariners will open the season on the road, playing at Oakland on Monday, April 5th. So the Mariners will get to see probably the biggest crowd Oakland has all next season. It will be a seven-game road trip to start the season with four in Oakland and three in Texas.
The home opener will be on Monday, April 12th, also against the A's. It will be a nine-game homestand featuring the A's, the Tigers and Orioles.
Interleague play this year features the match-up with that bitter regional rival the San Diego Padres featuring Adrian Gonzales, Kevin Kouzmanoff and a bunch of guys nobody has heard of. The Mariners will also go against the National League Central teams. The Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs will come to Safeco Field, while the Mariners will travel to St. Louis and the Brewers.
In the category of annoying and obnoxious fans, the Yankees will come only once to Safeco on July 8-11, while the Red Sox will come twice (July 22-25 and Sept. 13-15) meaning double the irritation from a bunch of fans who couldn't tell you who managed the team before Terry Francona.
