Well, we were informed about dinner time that Carlos Silva has been activated from the 60-day disabled list and reliever Sean White has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right shoulder.
Silva will be pitching out of the bullpen and as the group of relievers walked out to their spot before the game, Silva was wearing the pink backpack that usually is reserved for rookies to wear.
As for Silva's return, I'm basically indifferent to it. I have my doubts as to how much he will help the team now, or perhaps in the future. But you're paying the guy a lot of money, I guess it's best to have him contribute something more than just hitting baseballs over the fence with a fungo bat before batting practice.
The bad news is that Sean White's season is over. His shoulder just never came around, and he's thrown a career high innings this season with 64 1/3. But I think it's safe to say he far exceeded expectations. Making 52 appearances and posting a 2.80 ERA with a 3-2 record, a save and 15 holds.
