EDIT: Apparently I'm rusty at the picture taking thing as well, but here's a few photos of Jose Lopez taking some groundballs at third. He gotten eaten up on the one above, and the one below - a backhand - he looked fine. He's not exactly smooth out there, but he seems to be giving an earnest effort
Wow, I am rusty at this blogging thing. I write a post asking for information and I forgot to provide the most basic information -- today's lineup for the game against the Cleveland Indians.
At first glance, you see that youngster Nick Franklin will be making his first start of the spring ... at second base. Franklin was drafed as a shortstop with the 27th pick of the first round of last year's draft out of Lake Brantley High School in Florida. He played in 10 games with Arizona rookie league, hitting .302 (13-for-43) with two doubles and a home run.
Mariners amateur scouting director Tom McNamara loves his intensity and makeup and his athleticism.
Matt Tuiasosopo continues to move all over and will start at shortstop today.
Jose Lopez is in the lineup again today at third. And we'll see how be bounces back after a rough day yesterday. I talked with Larry and he was surprised how upbeat Lopez was after yesterday's game. Maybe Lopez is starting to develop a belief system at third base .... come on, you know I had to write it.
Also good to see Franklin Gutierrez back in the lineup for the second straight day after having to miss some time with a sore shoulder.

Jose Lopez, 3B
