Milton Bradley and Alex Liddi had solo home runs and Dustin Ackley hit a three-run shot as Seattle eat Los Angeles, 7-1, is the six-inning 'B' affair. Luke French went two innings, and four relievers shutout the Dodgers the last four innings.
And those Giants? Well, lefty Jason Vargas - who was 9-5 with a 3.15 ERA last year after 23 starts, then lost his last seven decisons - pitched for the first time since camp opened. He threw three shutout innings, using 45 pitches.
"It felt like forever, but it wasn’t that long,” Vargas said. “I was in the strike zone, I got ahead in the count early, I wasn’t all over the place. It was productive.”
In the sixth inning of that game, Seattle is leading, 1-0. Ryan Langerhans tripled home Justin Smoak for the only run, so far.
