Jack Wilson has played four games this season at second base and, when asked, said he still sees himself as a big-leagueshortstop - which worked out well tonight.
Manager Eric Wedge moved Wilson to short, inserted Adam Kennedy at second base and gave Brendan Ryan (.083) the night off against Texas. Hard to argue with any of it.
"It was the opportunity to get Adam Kennedy into a game, we got to give Ryan the day off and get Jack time at shortstop, where he'll play from time to time this season," Wedge said.
Catcher Miguel Olivo, who has started four of Seattle's five games, will give way to Adam Moore in tomorrow's day game, which will be followed by a scheduled off day for the team - the only one they have until April 25.
"That will give Olivo two full days off before he starts the home opener," Wedge said. "I'm thinking about doing it with another guy, but I'm not sure I will."
Best guess: Wilson, who would sit while Ryan plays SS and Kennedy plays another day at 2B.
Tonight is also Michael Pineda's major league debut, and the big man came into the clubhouse listening to music through ear plugs - and dancing. He didn't seem too nervous.
