A big rookie crop - now, pick the cream

Four rookies in the starting lineup today, a fifth on the mound and seemingly hundreds of them brought through the Seattle Mariners roster in 2011.

How many will be back in 2012?

"You're going to see quite a few," manager Eric Wedge said today.

That, of course, depends on what general manager Jack Zduriencik does this winter - some of which may revolve around packaging rookies and dealing them to fill a particular need. No one, however, can fail to have seen a wide talent range as Seattle has developed, acquired and auditioned players this season.

So, who do you see playing a role with the 2012 season? The candidates:

Infield - Dustin Ackley, Kyle Seager, Mike Carp, Alex Liddi.Outfield - Casper Wells, Trayvon Robinson, Carlos Peguero, Greg Halman, Mike Wilson.Starting pitching - Michael Pineda, Blake Beavan, Charlie Furbush, Anthony Vasquez.Relief pitching - Chance Ruffin, Tom Wilhelmsen, Steve Delabar, Josh Lueke, Dan Cortes.

If you were building your 25-man, opening day roster for 2012, which of those players makes your team?
