Steve Delabar's split-fingered fastball

Steve Delabar is 28 and in his first major league spring training camp, a Seattle Mariners rookie with six big-league games to his credit.

Arm issues threatened to end his career and a year ago he was a substitute teacher before giving baseball one last chance. With that chance, he pitched for the Mariners A, AA and AAA teams, then came to Seattle in September, going 1-1 with a 2.57 earned run average.

One of his biggest weapons: a split-fingered fastball. In the video above, he shows how he throws it, talks about how he learned it and discusses when to throw it.
