And then, there were fewer Mariners babies

With 10 days left in camp before the Seattle Mariners fly to Japan, they had to cut their roster numbers dramatically - 62 players was simply too many - and on Sunday they did just that.

Among the 15 cut were young pitchers Taijuan Walker, James Paxton, Dan Hultzen  and Forrest Snow, no surprise in the long term but a disappointment to each of them.

"It wasn't really unexpected, but I was kind of surprised," Hultzen said. "I didn't want to get ahead of myselfr, but it was an awesome experience. Now I have to keep getting better."

A full list of the 15 cuts today:

Optioned to minor league camp: Dan Hultzen, Yorvis Medina, Mauricio Robles, Franklin Martinez, Carlos Triunfel, Johermyn Chavez and Hoh-Chih Chiang.

Reassigned to minor league camp: James Paxton, Scott Patterson, Forrest Snow, Taijuan Walker, Ralph Henriquez, Nick Franklin, Luis Jimenez and Darren Ford.

The cuts leave the team with 47 players still in camp. Seattle will take 30 with them to Japan.
