With 10 days left in camp before the Seattle Mariners fly to Japan, they had to cut their roster numbers dramatically - 62 players was simply too many - and on Sunday they did just that.
Among the 15 cut were young pitchers Taijuan Walker, James Paxton, Dan Hultzen and Forrest Snow, no surprise in the long term but a disappointment to each of them.
"It wasn't really unexpected, but I was kind of surprised," Hultzen said. "I didn't want to get ahead of myselfr, but it was an awesome experience. Now I have to keep getting better."
