Seattle Mariners rookie outfielder Michael Saunders dropped six bunt singles in his first visit to the big leagues in 2009, though this spring – hitting .389 – he hasn’t focused much on bunting..
“I’m feeling so comfortable at the plate, swinging so well, I feel like I can do damage with my at-bats,” Saunders said. “It’s hard to think about bunting right now.
“I know I can bunt. And when I go into a little slump, I might drop one. The way I’ve been hitting, infielders are not playing me to bunt."
Saunders is starting in center field against Milwaukee and, in two weeks, will likely be Seattle's opening day center fielder.
