The Mariners are on their way to Japan

The Seattle Mariners flew to Japan with 30 players today, with 28 of those players available to  create the team's 25-man opening day roster.

Two pitchers - Iwakuma and Noesi - will start exhibition games in Tokyo and will not be among the 28 players in the pool that will make up 25 eligible players on the opening day roster. A third, Beavan, will be insurance for Hernandez and Vargas, should either be unable to start the regular season games March 28-29.

In another piece of roster news, lefty Cesar Jimenez was outrighted to Tac oma and taken off Seattle's 40-man roster, which now stands at 37.
