Manager Eric Wedge talked about it in April, tried it for an inning last night and today, Alex Liddi makes his major league starting debut in left field for the Seattle Mariners.
"Does he know where it is? joked Wedge.
Liddi does, and is anxious to see actiion. Put there last night in the ninth inning, he didn't have a ball hit to him. Now, in a day game, he becomes the fourth Seattle left fielder of 2012.
"I'm sure it's going to be different than in practice," Liddi said. "Going back on a ball is the toughest part. I'm anxious for the first play, to see what it's like. You're a lot further away and have a different perspective than when you're in the infield."

Liddi has now played first base, third base, left field and designated hitter as Wedge tries to find ways to his right-handed bat in the lineup. Liddi is batting .279 with two ome runs and five RBI in limited playing time.
Today, Mike Carp will be the DH, Kyle Seager the cleanup hitter and Jesus Montero gets the day off.
"He needs a break, as much mentally as physically," Wedge said. "He's processing a lot and not complaining. He's got a lot of work to do and he knows it. It's OK."
