Figured I'd post a few links that you might find interesting that pertain to the Mariners.
The first is a link to a Q and A that Mariners shortstop Brendan Ryan did with Fangraphs' David Laurila about his defense. It's candid and interesting.
From the interview ...
DL: The Fielding Bible rates you as the top defensive shortstop in baseball. Does that make up for not winning a Gold Glove?

BR: It’s definitely been a little bit frustrating. I don’t know that I even finished in the top five the last three years or so. Truthfully, I’ve felt that I should have at least been in the discussion. Last year, I got hurt a little bit at the end and that probably didn’t help. I’m not sure.
You can say things about being in a big market, and it seems like offense is definitely taken into consideration. The top three guys were [Erick] Aybar — who won it — Asdrubal [Cabrera] and [J.J.] Hardy. They’re all good defensively, but they had pretty good offensive years as well. At minimum, I’d like to be among those getting consideration. Another shortstop in the Mariners organization is doing it with his bat as prospect Nick Franklin is tearing up the Double A Southern League.
From the story ...
Now the 21-year-old Florida native is getting the best of Double-A pitchers, ranking among the Southern League leaders in batting average (.336), on-base percentage (.389) and slugging (.513).Another interesting story comes from Sports Illustrated where Albert Chen writes about Georgia high school outfielder Byron Buxton, who is considered the best prep player in the country. Why is this important? Well, the Mariners have the third pick of the 2012 MLB draft on June 4, and there is a slim chance that Buxton could fall to them if the Astros (first pick) and Twins (second pick) decide to go elsewhere. It doesn't seem likely but you never know.
And below, Dustin Ackley was on with Bob and Groz.
