Hector Noesi gave the Mariners another eight inning outing, his second straight and third of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts. He might have had a few strikeouts if he was better on 0-2 and 1-2 counts.
All three runs that were driven in came on either 1-2 or 0-2 counts.
In the first inning, Kendrys Morales dumped a single to left off on a 1-2 changeup that was up in the zone for the Angels first run
In the fourth inning, Morales then launched a solo homer to right-center on an 0-2 slider that hung. Noesi said he was trying to throw a slider at the back foot and left it up.

In the seventh inning, Mark Trumbo went down and got a changeup and ripped it off the upper deck facade.
None of them were particularly good pitches in those counts. Even the changeup which was down, needs to be down more. Noesi has to remember he has pitches to work with. He needs to learn how to focus and finish on 0-2.
“It’s just finishing the pitch off and finishing the hitter off and being a little more aggressive when it needs to be down in the zone or out of the zone,” Wedge said.
Even if he doesn't make those mistakes, the Mariners didn't do much against CJ Wilson. In fact a blister, which knocked Wilson out of the game in the sixth, did more damage.
Justin Smoak did have an RBI single and had two hits.
