Figgins gets a start in left field against the Padres

It's the first game of the Vedder Cup? Vedder Cup you say? Well, it's something that some of us San Diego and Seattle writers joke about. We all like Pearl Jam (and who doesn't?) and since both cities often lay claim to Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder, we decided to call the trumped up, manufactured, natural rivalry established by MLB as the Vedder Cup.

Dumb? Possibly. But hey it allows me to post Pearl Jam videos.

Chone Figgins is getting a start in the left field tonight with lefty Clayton Richard on the mound for the Padres. I guess he might as well maximize the playing time he gets. It might decrease more with Franklin Gutierrez nearing  a return. Of course, he should be DFA'd when that happens. But then again, he should have been sent out weeks ago. I'm really thinking its not a decision left up to Jack Zduriencik or Eric Wedge.
