As expected, neither Franklin Gutierrez nor Michael Saunders is in the Seattle Mariners lineup tonight - both have slight groin strains -  so Casper Wells will be playing center field  vs. the Boston Red Sox.

They're not the only regulars sitting: first baseman Justin Smoak (.193) is on the bench and Mike Carp (.204) will start tonight. John Jaso will catch and Jesus Montero is the DH.

Here's the Seattle lineup against right-hander Aaron Cook:

Dustin Ackley       2BTrayvon Robinson    LFKyle Seager        3BJohn Jaso           CJesus Montero           DHEric Thames          RFMike Carp           1BCasper Wells            CFBrendan Ryan            SSKevin Millwood   RHP

Felix Hernandez threw 38 pitches in three innings with five strikeouts and a walk in his first start since being hit in the arm by a line drive four weeks ago. He appears on schedule to compete for a 10th consecutive Opening Day start if it’s not James Paxton.
