Greetings from not so sunny Peoria, Arizona. We arrived to driving rain. And if you think drivers freak out in the rain in Seattle, think about what happens to people here. It was an adventure. The forecast is supposed to be better the rest of the week with clear skies so that means workouts will go on as usual.
Yes, that's a double-double animal style from In-N-Out burger ... it had a twin brother, but it was consumed before the picture was taken.
Obviously, there is still plenty swirling about concerning Felix Hernandez's right elbow and how it may not only affect his rumored contract extension, but his future on the field.
There are a lot of questions, but not many answers out there.

We were hoping to get some information on Tuesday when Hernandez took his scheduled physical along with the rest of the pitchers and catchers who are reporting. Initially, the thought was that Hernandez would do a group interview in front of the media. There are several national reporters here besides the local guys.
But the Mariners issued an email saying that Hernandez would not speak to the media on Tuesday and instead would likely be available on Wednesday afternoon after his first workout.
So what does that mean? Well, obviously that means the extension isn't finished yet. Logically, it would be smart for Hernandez not to discuss any of the stuff swirling about the ether while negotiations are still going on. So an optimist might think, that they are likely to have it finalized by Wednesday when Hernandez is done with his workout. It's not unthinkable.
My gut feeling is that this deal will get finalized by the end of the week if not sooner. Any protective language the team wants to put in the contract in case of an elbow injury should be deemed fair. And it really shouldn't be that much a slight to the Hernandez camp.
The Mariners took the elbow questions serious enough to have Hernandez fly to LA and meet with Dr. Lewis Yocum to have a second opinion on it.
Beyond the extension, I would wonder what if the Mariners do anything different with Hernandez going forward to avoid any situations with the elbow.
Anybody tired of talking about this yet?
How about some more talking ... here's my interview with ESPN 710 talking about Felix and the elbow and other stuff.
